Best Bose Headphones 2023. Charging bose soundsport wireless headphones

Best Bose Headphones 2023

Picking the best Bose headphones can be tricky when there are so many great options, like our number one pick, the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds. Bose has quite a reputation for being one of the best in the game and has been releasing solid audio peripherals for years. Whether you’re on the lookout for the best wireless headphones or the best wireless earbuds, Bose has something for everyone. The audio-peripheral company has also entered the gaming industry and offers some of the best gaming headsets and wireless gaming headsets as well.

After reviewing many Bose headphones, we’ve compiled a list of our favorites. We’ve included some of the best over-ear as well as noise-canceling headphones. We also cater to different budgets so, for folks who aren’t looking to spend a lot, it has some suggestions for the best budget wireless earbuds, too. We hope our list can help in finding the perfect Bose headphones for you.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds

Best noise-canceling Bose headphones

Interface: True Wireless | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Design: In-ear | Battery Life: 6 hours Charging Case: 12 hours | Weight: 9.1g

If you’re looking for stellar active noise canceling, look no further. The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds are known for how well they cancel the noise around you. Be it your home or an outdoors noisy environment, the QuietComfort buds significantly mute unwanted ambient sound. Their sound is said to be pretty clean and neutral, too. The buds also offer a quite useful companion app with plenty of EQ customization that is both straightforward and helpful.

The only downside of these otherwise great buds is that their charging case is too large. Unfortunately, it’s a little too big to fit in your If you’re big on portability, you might want to pass on these. Otherwise, they’re an excellent option to consider. You get six hours on a single charge and 12 additional hours with the charging case. The controls on the buds are minimal and fairly intuitive.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II

Best battery life Bose headphones

Interface: True Wireless | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Design: In-ear | Battery Life: 6 hours Charging Case: 24 hours | Weight: 8.9g

Bose has built most of its brand reputation around stellar ANC so you shouldn’t be surprised to find out that the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II have excellent noise canceling. Like their predecessor, the QuietComfort Earbuds II impress too. Not only is the cancellation worth recommending, but the transparency mode is great because of how natural and life-like they are. The sound is dynamic with excellent highs and midrange.

The only area the QuietComfort Earbuds II is lacking is the absence of wireless charging and multipoint connectivity. Not offering either of these features becomes even more concerning when the buds’ 299 price tag is taken into consideration. However, if your regular usage doesn’t demand any of these features, you’re good to go. With their six-hour battery life, and a whopping 24 hours with the charging case, you’re not going to be tethered to a socket anyway.

Bose QuietComfort 35 II

Best Bluetooth connection Bose headphones

Interface: Wireless, wired | Connectivity: Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio cable | Design: Over-ear | Battery Life: 20 hours | Weight: 236g

Bose’s QuietComfort 35 II ticks almost every box you can think of. Sporting both a wireless and wired interface, they ensure convenience for the user. They are also praised for its strong Bluetooth connection which delivers without a stutter. Their extremely impressive ANC also contributes to making it one of our top picks. The QuietComfort 35 II features full bass, rich highs, and spacious mids. Their sound is versatile, and can achieve a lot in their admittedly high but worth-it, 345 price tag.

The mic on these headphones tend to pick up some background noise. Hence, we wouldn’t recommend these for full-Band recording. However, for your everyday calls and virtual meetings, they’re more than sufficient. Their impressive 20-hour battery life makes sure you’re not always connected to a socket. Even when they do run out of battery, you have a 3.5mm audio cable in the package to come to your rescue.

Bose QuietComfort 45

Best comfort Bose headphones

Interface: Wireless, wired | Connectivity: Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio cable | Design: Over-ear | Battery Life: 24 hours | Weight: 238g

If comfort is your top priority in your next pair of headphones, the Bose QuietComfort 45, the QuietComfort 35 II’s successor, is your best bet. All thanks to their extremely thick and generously padded plus earcups, your ears are going to be thanking you for this purchase. The headphones also sport a lightweight body which helps them rest comfortably atop your noggin. The comfortable build coupled with a long-lasting 24-hour battery life means you wouldn’t have to pause your entertainment. Even when they do run out of juice, you can use the provided 3.5mm audio cable in the package to resume your content.

As expected, the QuietComfort 45 also offers excellent noise-canceling. It also features an Aware Mode which uses mics placed on the exterior of the headphones to listen to outdoor noise and react to it by lowering the volume of your music and turning noise-canceling off. This makes sure you stay cognizant of what’s going on around you and doubles as an excellent safety feature, too. The listening experience on the QuietComfort 45 is further enhanced by a range of intuitive controls that allow you to manage playback, volume, and your phone’s virtual assistant. The Bose Music app and the EQ settings it offers takes the overall experience up another notch.

Bose SoundSport Free

Best workout-friendly Bose headphones

Interface: True Wireless | Connectivity: Bluetooth | Design: In-ear | Battery Life: 5 hours Charging Case: 10 hours | Weight: 18.1g

The Bose SoundSport Free earbuds offer a lot for just 155. These in-ear, true wireless earbuds provide a secure fit that doesn’t budge even when you’re engaged in intense physical activities. This makes the buds perfect for fitness. The IPX4 water-resistance rating also adds to making these ideal for your workout sessions as you don’t have to worry about how sweaty you get. The SoundSport buds sound excellent, too but they’re known for their powerful low-end. The treble and midrange are said to be good too but not as exaggerated as the bass.

The buds feature a five-hour battery life which may seem a little short, especially compared to the other true wireless buds in this article. But with the charging case adding another 10 hours, the battery life isn’t too bad. You also get fast charging capability which makes the battery situation even better. The only downside of these buds is their bulky body. They protrude pretty far, unless looks are a complete dealbreaker for you, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t opt for these.

Yes, these are the revised version. You’ll notice that everyone complaining about the sweat issues are not ‘verified purchasers’ because they didn’t purchase this new version.

Do these go in-ear like most earbuds or are they half in-ear like Apple earpods/Airpods? I can’t stand the in-ear type.

These are like most earbuds that go inside the ear canal. There are 3 interchangeable ear tip sizes provided for the best fit. This is what is being referred to as Stay Hear tips.

Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones Review

best, bose, headphones, 2023

The Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones are said to bring comfort and great sound to your workouts. Check out what we thought about them.

Everyone has gone wireless, including Bose. Earlier this year, the Bose SoundSport wireless earbuds (along with a few other headphones) were announced. I’ve been using the SoundSport Wireless for a couple of months now and here’s what I think about them:

best, bose, headphones, 2023

Design and Build

best, bose, headphones, 2023

From far the SoundSport Wireless look like your typical wireless earbuds. I was sent the black color to review. The ear tips (StayHear tips) don’t go all the way in your ear. They have ear tips to help you keep the buds in place. The 3 button mic and volume controls are located closer to the right earbud. The power button is on the right earbud along with indicator lights. At first look and feel of the earbuds, it looks like they will be difficult to keep in your ear, given the size and placement. As bulky as they look, the headphones aren’t heavy. The earbuds are very bulky (made of plastic) and visible when you’re wearing them. T hey stick out of your ear. The plastic part of the earbuds (with the Bose logo) scratch easily. You probably won’t notice unless you look closely or it’s a huge scratch.

Experience

best, bose, headphones, 2023

I love wireless earbuds, and this build is my favorite kind so far. I am not a huge fan of over ear clips and I’ve yet to try truly wireless earbuds this year. I take my time looking for the right ear tip sizes. It’s key in getting good noise isolation as well as keeping the headphones in when working out.

The StayHear tips Headphones have reached a point where we can ask for both comfort, and quality sound. When it comes to Bose you definitely expect quality sound as well.

Pairing the headphones is pretty easy (hold down the power button until the woman says “ready to pair”). The woman also lets you know what devices you’re paired to. You can pair the SoundSport Wireless to 2 devices at once.

While some people had SoundSports that malfunctioned due to extreme moisture, I never had a problem with the headphones shorting out on me or making pop/ clicky noises. Bose took care of the situation by updating and exchanging the headphones.

best, bose, headphones, 2023

Sound

No surprise here, but you definitely get Bose quality sound in the SoundSport Wireless. It’s very natural sounding. There is a lot of clarity. You can tell that Bose also wants to give you some bass rhythm without it taking over the track. While it does an okay job of noise isolation, I’ve had headphones that do it better. You will definitely hear noise around you (maybe it’s intentional?)

Comfort

Like I said earlier, these headphones are lighter than they look. The earbuds do protrude a little too much out of your ear, but they don’t weigh you down. The StayHear tips are actually comfortable since they don’t go deep into your ear. There’s no tightness or pressure from the earbuds, which really helps when you’re on the dreadful treadmill for over 35 minutes. Bose also provides a clip to keep the cable from flopping around as you run. The clip attaches to the top of the back of your shirt. It’s the first time I’ve seen that on wireless headphones.

Battery Life

The SoundSport Wireless have great battery life. They charge via microUSB. You can charge them in a charging case, and charge the case as well. 15 minutes of charging through the case, gives you up to an hour of music If the SoundSport Wireless die out you can charge them on the go. The case also serves as more durable protection than the bag it comes in. They have great standby time too. I charge the headphones every 3-5 (depending how active I am), but I use them at least a couple of hours a day.

best, bose, headphones, 2023

Pricing and Availability

The Bose SoundSport Wireless headphones go for 149. Given the Bose brand, you expect the headphones to be in this price range. You can buy them from Bose.com

Overall

I see these becoming the go-to for many who are willing to shell out the cash for it. They are comfortable both for casual use and at the gym. I do wish they were a bit better at noise cancellation. But good sound, battery life, and lots of comfort make the SoundSport Wireless a top pick for gym headphones.

How to charge any Bose wireless headphones in 4 simple steps

  • You can charge your Bose headphones by connecting their USB cable from the headphones to a power source like a computer, wall charger, or power bank.
  • Bose headphones have their power jack on the right side of the headphones, and most use a Micro USB cable — the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 use a USB-C cable.
  • It will take about two and a half hours to fully charge your Bose headphones.
  • Visit Business Insider’s Tech Reference library for more stories.

All wireless Bose headphones have a few things in common, like an integrated Lithium-ion battery and the need to stay charged. A Bose with a dead battery might still play if you plug it in with a physical AUX cable, but it won’t be able to connect to Bluetooth, and its noise cancelling features won’t work.

Whether you own Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, SoundLink Around-Ear Wireless Headphones II, QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones II, or even QuietControl 30 Wireless Headphones, they’re all charged in the same way.

How to charge Bose headphones

Find the USB port on your headphones, usually on the right earcup (on neckband-style headphones, it’ll be on the right side of the neckband). It will be a Micro USB connector for most headphones, though the new Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 use USB-C.

Connect one end of a USB cable to the port on the headphones.

Plug the other end into a computer that’s turned on, a USB power bank, or a USB wall charger.

Let the headphones charge until the power light on the headphones glows a steady color.

It generally takes about two and a half hours to charge fully depleted headphones.

A few Bose models have quick-charge capability. The Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700, for example, will give you 3.5 hours of power after just a 15-minute charge.
