Variety of cooking surfaces
All cooking surfaces can be divided into two large groups. What unites these groups is the power source, in its role may act:
In appearance, cooktops that are connected to the gas mains are almost no different from conventional stoves. An option for these modules may be an automatic start system that can be autonomous or dependent on electricity. In the first case, it is represented by a piezo element, which at the right moment supplies a spark. Burners on gas burners can vary in size for greater ease of use.
Electric cooking surfaces can be of two types:
In the classic cooking hobs the role of a burner is performed by a TEN or other heating element. Such a module costs less and is not particularly economical. Induction hobs are the dream of every modern housewife. The essence of the operation of the product is to heat the product thanks to the electromagnetic field. At the same time, if you put your hand on a working burner, you will not feel anything. For proper operation of the product requires a metal pan with a thick bottom. In this case, the material of which the cookware is made must be magnetic. The installation process of each of these surfaces is very similar. The only difference is the need to connect a gas hose for the first variant of the stove.
In the kitchen, the cooking surface is installed near the gas pipe. It is possible to shift a small distance within the hose. It must not be stretched, it must hang loosely.
Changing the location of the appliances, requiring the transfer of the gas pipe, perform only specialists of the gas service. They are also to be informed if the appliance is replaced.
Before buying the panel, measure the length and width of the tabletop. The size of the appliance must match its dimensions. The standard installation parameters for a built-in 4 burner hob is 50×60 cm (/- 2 cm). The instruction manual specifies the dimensions of the appliance and the required size of the hole for the appliance.
When installing maintain the distance from the panel to the edges of the surface. In order not to destroy the thin wall when sawing, this distance should not be less than 5 cm.
Reference. The thickness of the worktop is important. It is not recommended to install the hob into structures thinner than 38 mm.
Take into account the material of manufacture of the countertop. Cut into the wooden surface do it yourself. durable materials, such as artificial stone is recommended to entrust to a specialist.
Before you put a built-in appliance, consider the following nuances:
- To simplify the attachment of the nuts, the pipe supply is connected before installing the kitchen set;
- bellows hose must be attached through a nipple or plumbing fittings;
- for connections use linen liner or FUM tape and gas paste;
- If the panel is equipped with an electric ignition, prepare in advance a separate socket;
- Included with the technique are nozzles for the main gas supply, to connect to a cylinder buy others additionally.
To begin the installation work, buy a gas panel, silicone sanitary sealant, masking tape; gas hose for connection, winding (linen or FUM tape), Multipak gas paste.
Prepare the tools:
- an electric jigsaw and a drill. for sawing a hole in the worktop;
- A set of screwdrivers;
- trowel. for applying sealant;
- gas wrench. to connect the hob.
Connecting the cooktop to the mains
Experts note how it will be correct and quick to install a new cooktop in the kitchen countertop and connect it to the utilities. The device can be connected to a separate electric line, if the switchboard has RCD fuses for the stove. In homes with a 380 volt power supply, it is necessary to make an even load on the phase.
The panel may require a separate socket, so first you will have to dismantle the garnish. The channel is prepared, reinforced, closed with a layer of putty or cement. After these works, proceed to the cutting of holes and installation of the plate.
Rules of installation of gas and electric hobs
The set of rules taken into account when installing the hob is not much different from the recommendations for installing any type of cooktop. Beforehand, familiarise yourself with the manufacturer’s requirements and recommendations in the instructions accompanying the appliance.
Important! Failure to follow the instructions absolves the manufacturer from responsibility for improper operation of the appliance or its failure.
When connecting gas equipment, always involve a licensed professional. At least for the purpose of controlling the work performed.
Furnishings in contact with the hob must be made of nonflammable materials. The laminate panelling and the adhesive fixing it must be heat resistant.
Do not install the hob above refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and similar appliances.
If the hob is installed above an oven it must have a forced ventilation function.
When installing the hob, make cuts in the countertop not smaller than the size specified in the installation diagram to avoid deformation of the structure due to natural expansion caused by heat.
The cooker hob must be connected to the mains using a separate plug and a separate power socket, in accordance with the specifications set out in the operating instructions. Do not connect the hob and, for example, the oven with the same plug into the same socket.
It is not recommended to install the hob above the dishwasher. Such a combination causes malfunction of the dishwasher because of the heat generated by the hob. The electrical elements of the hob often fail due to condensation from the dishwasher.
If the hob is used as a cabinet, a separating diaphragm made of heat-resistant material with asbestos fibre gasket must be installed under the bottom edge of the hob.
Warning! When installing the hood over a gas, electric or combined hob, maintain a minimum distance of 650 mm to the hob along the vertical axis.
In order to properly integrate the hob, it must be secured from below. Fasteners, which are a combination of self-tapping screws and special spacer plates supplied in the kit, allows you to immediately attach the panel to the table top. Fix the device in the four corners. Tighten everything tightly to avoid gaps. Complete the process of fastening by returning in place all the previously removed parts. Once the device has been fixed, it is necessary to cut off all the excess sealing rubber protruding from the top with a sharp tool. In general, it is a very simple task to build in this type of equipment by yourself.
Algorithm of connecting the panel to single-phase networks
This option is possible if a wire of three conductors is embedded in the wall.
To install the hob, the following steps are required.
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the plate on the back of the panel.
- Use jumpers to connect the first, second and third terminals. Connect the phase using brown, black or white wire
- Connect the blue shade wire to the zeros. This is the fourth and fifth numbers.
- The cables for the hob are led to the safety terminal (yellow).
- Tightening the mounting screws.
- Check that all connections are secure and tight, and that the product functions properly.
As a precondition for connection, check the technical condition of the sockets. Replace if necessary.
Connecting the gas cooker hob: instructions for safe connection
The stages of installation of separate gas equipment. hob and oven. are similar to the installation of an ordinary gas stove, but also have their own peculiarities. Sometimes users make only the connection of the gas hob, because they do not use the oven or prefer an electric model.
If you have decided to do the installation work yourself or want to monitor the work of specialists, we propose to further disassemble how to connect the gas cooktop with your own hands.
Installing the hob: a complete practical guide
In this article, we will talk to you about kitchen appliances, and how they are built into the kitchen set.
If, ten years ago, out of ten installed kitchen sets, at most half of them contained in its composition cooktop (the rest were with independent gas stove), now. almost a hundred percent of suites are planned its installation.
So, this process can be described in a certain sequence.
To begin with, you need to take the passport for this appliance, and see what sizes should be cut out an opening. Even if, for some reason, the passport is not available, you can always measure with a tape measure the part of the hob that must be cut into the countertop.
Then, you need to do the following steps:
- Fit the countertop, and make a marking on it
- Transfer the dimensions of the recessed panel to the worktop
- Make at least one hole (8-10 mm in diameter) on each side of the niche
- Cut out the niche itself
- Apply silicone to the cut-out recess on the underside
- Install the countertop on the lower base of the kitchen set
- Stick sticky tape (or, glue plasticine on the countertop) to the inside of the recessed hob.
- Apply silicone compound to the countertop
- Insert the cooktop into the cut out niche
- Attach flush plates with special fasteners
So, right from the start, you need to put the countertop on the bottom base of the kitchen, in order to trim it in the right places in case of uneven walls, and if necessary, make holes for all kinds of gas pipes. In a word, prepare the worktop for installation on the bottom of the kitchen.
After that, you must mark the inside of the box into which the hob will be installed (simply, run a pencil along its inner edges in order to mark out its interior for further cut-out markings).
After that, the countertop needs to be put on its front side (facing upwards), and the place we marked out needs to be marked out to fit the recess (marked out according to the dimensions that should be in the data sheet to the panel, or which can be measured out by hand).
Now, in order to cut the required niche according to the markings, it is necessary near each proposed cut (on its inner side) to make holes so that it would be possible to insert the jigsaw into it.
Gas Cooktop Installation | Useful Knowledge
Cut out the niche itself. When cutting out, you need to be careful.
When all the edges are almost cut out, the part of the tabletop to be cut out should be either supported from below or taped to the tabletop, as it may break off under its own weight, tearing out the plastic from the front part of the tabletop (and thus ruining the entire tabletop).
Now, the inside of the cutout itself, you need to treat with silicone (one of the barriers to protect against moisture).
When all this is done, you must again install the countertop on the bottom base of the kitchen (by this time, of course, it must already have a sink, if it is, of course, provided), and fix it, although, you can fix it and after you install the hob.
Next, it is necessary to glue on the inside of the built-in hob a special adhesive tape, which also serves as a hydrobarrier.
In some models there is no such adhesive tape, but there is a special plasticine cut into specific strips. In this case, this plasticine is glued to the countertop right near the cutout, and when the hob is inserted into the cutout itself, it will cut off part of this plasticine, which can simply be trimmed with a knife and removed.
But, in our case (with sticky tape), instead of plasticine, we will apply silicone to the countertop.
Once the silicone has been applied, the hob must be inserted into the recess prepared for it, and secured to the countertop with special fasteners.
When it is installed, I once again gently dab it from the outside with silicone (fasteners are not perfect, and in some places, the panel may not adhere to the countertop), which hardened, forms another hydrogroup (the more such hydrogroup. the better).
Here’s such a fairly simple algorithm for installing the technique we consider in the countertop.
Yes, you have not forgotten about the fact that the hull plate in the box, in this case, must be in the middle of the box, and be offset 10 millimeters down (to ensure that the hob normally “becomes” the countertop (especially true for 28-millimeter-thick countertops)).
Naturally, in order to cut in such a technique, it must first be bought.
Well here I will finish. If something is not clear. ask in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев (form below, below the article).
Variety of cooking tops
Equipment can be electric, gas or combined. Installation works, irrespective of the model of devices, are carried out according to the same general rules on fastening, installation and fixing of the hob.
Independent work on the installation of the gas panel requires a responsible approach. In the process, the safety rules for working with gas equipment should be followed precisely. If the gas company finds violations during verification, a fine will be issued.
Electrically operated equipment is convenient to use and durable. If properly installed, the appliance will last a long time. In the event of a breakdown, the equipment can be easily dismantled, and it can be inspected and taken to a workshop for repair.
